The UWC Centre For Entrepreneurship and Innovation encourages students to enter the Pick ‘n Pay #BoostYourBiz campaign running from February to the end of March 2016.
Pick n Pay Retailers (Pty) Ltd Founder and Life President Raymond Ackerman believes “doing good is good business”.
And with this philosophy, Pick ‘n Pay has launched the Boost Your Biz campaign.
Stand a chance to win a business package to boost your business, including mentorship, strategy, marketing, and financial advice. All entrepreneurs are allowed to enter Pick n Pay’s Boost Your Biz competition, which would allow you to become a national supplier to the South African retailer.
The 10 categories you can enter are:
1 Edible Grocery
Groceries we eat that have a barcode i.e. Canned products such as baked beans, breakfast cereals and soft drinks.
2 Non-Edible Grocery
Groceries not for human consumption; these include washing powder, toilet and pet food.
3 Health, Beauty & Baby
Products for the health, wellness and beauty regime from bath products to vitamins and supplements and all baby wellness and care products including diapers and infant formula.
4 Liquor & Wine
All wines and hard liquor which includes Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages.
Men’s Wear, Women’s Wear, Baby Wear etc.
6 General Merchandise
This includes large and small appliances, outdoor furniture, gardening and electric accessories. I.e. Kettles, Fridges, Patio Furniture, Cutlery and Crockery, Pool Cleaners, and Batteries.
These include all edible products packaged with a random weight and a limited expiry date I.e. Fruit and Vegetables, Fish, Meat and Poultry, Bakery, and Processed Meats.
8 Added Value / Chilled (Including Convenience, Snacks, Meals, Sushi)
These are in store pre-prepared meals sold either at a random weight or packaged chilled, cold or heated for the immediate or near immediate consumption. I.e. Ready-Made Meals.
9 Services – E Services
These are electronic products and services purchased by consumers to streamline their life and finances. I.e. pre-paid electricity, cell phone airtime, account payments or event ticket bookings.
10 Transport and Logistics
Any service based product that can improve or add value to the delivery of goods and services to PnP
Criteria for entrants are:
* Turnover between R0m and R50m
* Minimum 2 full time employees
* Trading for at least 2 years
* South African-owned
* May not be a franchise business
* Must be registered with the Companies and Intellectual Properties Commission (CIPC).
* Must have tax clearance certificate and/or registered with SARS for VAT (If applicable).
