CEI searches for UWC’s future entrepreneurs

The UWC Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation invites all students and lecturers to attend the launch of the Student Start-Up campaign at the library auditorium from 1PM on 26 May 2016.

The UWC Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, also known as the CEI, was established in 2013 to consolidate, co-ordinate and synergise entrepreneurship and innovation activities on campus.

The department has achieved many milestones over the past two years. This includes its first Fellowship graduation and securing a government tender worth R2 million, which saw the CEI train 1000 entrepreneurs across the Western Cape. It also recently received a R1.2 million sponsor boost from ABSA, who believes the CEI plays an important role in developing and empowering SMEs.

The CEI is now excited to launch another exciting initiative called “Student Start-Up”, which is aimed at supporting and mentoring all aspiring and established entrepreneurs in the UWC community through a series of workshops.

CEI Director Charleen Duncan encourages all students and lecturers to participate in this exciting initiative.

“Entrepreneurship has become a realistic career option for all academics, especially young people,” says Duncan. “We want to mentor and support UWC’s future entrepreneurs to make their dreams a reality. We want you to believe it is possible to start and build your own business from a young age.

“We live in a modern society with many challenges. One solution is to create more job creators instead of job seekers, and our Student Start-Up campaign is one initiative to help achieve this.

“Those who participate in the Student Start-Up campaign will interact with some of the best entrepreneurs and business gurus in South Africa, and will have access to many amazing opportunities.”

    Good day
I have seen the current post on fb and are really interested in what uwc offers for its intrepreneurs.I am a young men and entrepreneur currently reciding in northern cape namakwa district and believe that you are not covering this area i am looking for more mentorship training in business in order to make myself more open-minded self driven and more responsible towards business.we are quite a few entrepreneurs who started businesses due to the increase of government renewable project request.one of the developer’s in our area are Abengoa and Biotherm and surely I think with all the mentorship can do us good.
If there are any way that you can direct me to help I would highly appreciate it.
    Kind regards

    Good day

I am a student at the university of the Western Cape in my third year and an aspiring entrepreneur. I have one question, does the program fund business opportunities if they feel the idea is worthy enough?

    Thank you in advance
